Canterbury Cottage on Pendragondale
Welcome My Lord! Welcome to Pendragondale. Where you will find not only where to lodge, but also information on Medieval and Renaissance Faires in the state of Virginia.
We are comited to perserving the the history and the beauty of that far a way culture. that is why we refer to bed and Breakfasts as a fief.A small fief would have been found at the outskirts of a village owned and run by a Lord. The fief would be "rented" from him, in exchange for produce and working the land.
There certainly would have been a "family cow", or two., for milk, Draft horses, just like the ones here, would have been kept for farm work and transportation. Sheep for wool - mine are shorn once a year, I sometimes spin their fleece, later, weave it on a loom. Their fleece also stuffs the comforters on the beds (you can purchase one for yourself, if you wish). Goats for milk for cheese. Chickens for eggs. Donkeys for labor and travel.
